Sales & Service Tax (SST) is the tax charged and levied on taxable services. Effective 1 March 2024, SST will be increased from 6% to 8% on prescribed taxable services (except where specifically exempted), as announced by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD).

In line with this, Shopee will revise the SST rate charged on the platform to sellers from 6% to 8% from 1 March 2024 onwards. In the event the effective date is deferred, Shopee will continue to apply SST (if applicable) based on current laws.

What is Sales & Service Tax (SST) applicable for?

The 8% SST will be applicable for:

1. Transaction fee
2. Marketplace Commission fee
3. Other applicable marketing programme service fee(s)
4. Seller Wallet high frequency withdrawal fee (if applicable)
5. Shopee Marketing Packages
6. Paid Ads credits
